  • Philly advice

I am going to be in center city Philadelphia for work on Thursday and have an early dinner with a friend. Of course, I'm looking at a BYOB and have pretty much decided on Matyson.

Two questions: any reason not to go to Matyson? Anything not to miss on the menu?

I'm thinking of taking a 2001 Pegau Laurence or a 1998 Pape Clement. Any reason to check out the center city PLCB stores for something else to take?

    Thanks

You are good. Matyson is outstanding. Check out the tasting menu while you are there. It is an exceptional value. It is a $45 prix fixe menu which includes dessert as part of the 5 courses. Your wine choices are fine too. Most of the time the PA LCB is no bargain.

Monday, March 26- Thursday, March, 29

    "Green"

    Asparagus Soup

Crispy speck, soft cooked egg, togarashi

    Cured Arctic Char

Fava bean tapenade, poppy seed creme fraiche, pumpernickel

    Spring Pea Agnolotti

Lamb neck ragout, pea leaves, ricotta, smoked pine nuts

    Herb Crusted Veal Tenderloin

    Ramps, trumpet mushrooms, blackberries

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich

$45 Prix Fixe does not include tax, beverage, or gratuity

Can never argue with it...there are good choices

It can be worth wandering in the Chestnut St. Superstore....but excitement is um modest.

Good to go at Matyson and skip the PLCB.
