  • Barossa/SA reviews

When are you going to publish the South Australian reviews? I see Issue 204 is dedicated to Aussie values.

    Re: Barossa/SA reviews

Hi Christopher - there will be some newly released "value" Barossa / SA reviews in the next issue, but the mid-range and icons are coming out in the following issue (205). I've just come back from Clare Valley & Barossa and can barely contain my excitement over some of the extraordinary SA wines in the pipeline. Along with the usual suspects, I've also had some pre-release previews of the 2008 Grange & 2008 Torbreck Laird, etc. So in short, all the top stuff will be coming out in the end of Feb report but there are some incredible SA bargains (under$25) to shout about in the next issue.

      Hi Lisa,

Just noticed that you didn't include any Rusden in the recent SA reviews - can you shed some light on this as to why?

      Best,

      Nick

        Re: Barossa/SA reviews

Hi Nick, sorry about this, the Rusden wines have been tasted and will be posted in a couple of weeks with the next update. There are a few other wineries that have yet to be posted too, including Shirvington and Rolf Binder. The delay has nothing to do with the quality of the wines but rather the format in which the wineries sent their information (vintage, wine name, region, price, style, importer, etc.). I always ask that the information is sent in very specific / simple way that makes the notes easy to format for Wine Advocate publishing. But some producers try to get a bit fancy with their information sheets and this makes my formatting job a lot more time consuming. With a few of the South Australia wineries I just ran out of time when it came to reformatting the notes - apologies for that. The notes are now all ready to go and should be posted very soon.
